Yampa Valley Sustainability Council looks to combat grocery bag forgetfulness

— Even well-intentioned folks have experienced the frustration of reaching the grocery checkout line only to realize they've left their reusable bags at home or in the car.

The Yampa Valley Sustainability Council, which merged last summer with Yampa Valley Recycles, has come up with a new strategy to help the forgetful. Volunteers will be at Safeway from noon to 1 p.m. and at City Market from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday offering reminder hang tags designed for door knobs or any handy spot on a car dashboard.

The tags display the image of a sack emblazoned with the text "Bring Your Bag."

As always, Yampa Valley Recycle's reusable green bags can be purchased at either grocery store or at the Sustainability Council office, 141 Ninth St., for $1.
