Volunteers needed for United Way Holiday Exchange Market

Routt County United Way's annual Holiday Exchange Market is returning, and volunteers are needed for setup and shifts at the market. In addition, donation items, including new winter coats and gloves, winter vests and hats, winter boots and socks, new toys and $25 grocery gift cards are needed.

The goal of Routt County United Way's Holiday Exchange Market is to bring together the entire community in sharing, so that all families can enjoy quality holiday gifts and meals no matter what their financial means, and all families can take pleasure in donating something to a common cause.
The program works by everyone involved donating something: volunteer time, new winter clothing, food cards, money, or new toys. Gift recipients are then invited to participate by either volunteering somewhere in the community for two hours or making a $10 donation to the market.

Business sales seminar offered Friday at CMC Academic Center
Selling to another business is often a different experience than selling to individuals. Business motivations for buying will likely be different and business acquisitions will usually require more process to close.
To help business owners learn about account management, territory management, consultative selling and effective sales calls, a 90-minute seminar on the subject will be held Dec. 8 in the Eagles Nest meeting room on the third floor of the CMC Academic Center in Steamboat. Sales consultant Andy Blackstone will lead the program. He has more than 30 years of sales and sales management expertise helping start-ups and small businesses nationwide. Lunch is at 11:45 a.m. with the program beginning at noon. The fee is $20.

City of Steamboat to host 1st master plan open house
The city of Steamboat Springs has initiated a planning process to prepare a comprehensive Parks, Recreation, Open Space, Trails and River master plan in conjunction with Logan Simpson, an award-winning landscape architecture and environmental planning firm.
The public is invited to stop by the first public open house being held for the master plan from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 7 at the Steamboat Springs Community Center, 1605 Lincoln Ave. At the meeting, community members can learn about the planning process, existing facility inventory and trends affecting outdoor recreation.
When completed, the plan will provide a 10-year vision for the city's park and recreation facilities and amenities, as well as an action plan for implementing the vision.
