The Yampa Ranger District requests comments on the environmental assessment for NFSR 225 Travel Management Project.

The analysis area includes the NFSR 225 road system within the Gore Pass area in Routt County, Colorado. The project is located southeast of Yampa approximately 14 miles. The legal location is as follows: all or parts of Township 1 North, Range 83 West, Sections 12, 13, 14, 15, 22, 23, 27, 28, 29, 30, 32 and 33.

The purpose of this document is to determine whether or not to make changes to the NFSR 225 road system that accesses the Long Park Area. This includes roads 225.1, 225.1A & 225.1B (all of which are currently open to motorized travel). Proposed activities include:

  1. Relocating portions of system roads,

  2. Changing use on portions of existing roads,

  3. Creating more dispersed camping opportunity,

  4. Closing unneeded road segments, and

  5. Other watershed improvement projects.
