Ulrich Salzgeber: Thank you, Nancy
January 3, 2013
On Tuesday, a historical moment in Routt County will occur and, most likely, without the pomp and circumstance that it deserves. Nancy Stahoviak no longer will be a Routt County commissioner for the first time in two decades.
I applaud all public servants for dedicating their time and effort toward the betterment of our communities and in doing so opening up their lives to public scrutiny. However, my respect is even greater for those who do it for the right reason. Mrs. Stahoviak precisely is that person. Although she was elected to represent District 1, encompassing most of South Routt, she truly has been a great representative for the entire county.
Nancy's understanding of the issues before her and her willingness to listen to all sides of those issues led to making informed decisions. On the rare occasion when I might not have agreed with her, I always respected the way in which she reached those decisions, and it would force me to reflect on my own opinion. Bottom line with Nancy always was contingent upon what was best for the residents of Routt County, and we never can ask for more than that.
Her selfless dedication to her job, even during tough medical challenges, and her willingness to be active in numerous local and statewide committees, all for the betterment of her constituents, just fortifies what a special person she is.
All residents of Routt County, present and future, owe Nancy Stahoviak their appreciation, gratitude and respect. She has earned it, and we all are better off because of her service as a Routt County commissioner.
Best of luck in all of your future endeavors, Nancy. I suspect that we haven't heard the last of you — at least, I hope not.
