Tigers volleyball stumbles, snaps streak at 3 wins

Hayden — The Hayden High School girls volleyball team hit a roadblock Thursday night playing at home. Now the Tigers are hoping a three-game loss to Vail Christian only snapped their winning streak and didn't sap their momentum.
Hayden, 4-3, hung with Vail Christian throughout Thursday's match, but never could pull ahead at the key moments.
"We were fighting hard to catch up, then we'd let our guard down a little bit and have to fight back again," coach Christene Planansky said. "The girls were upset. Any kind of loss is hard to take, especially coming after a bunch of wins, but they're bound and determined to get back on a winning streak again."
Hayden had won three in a row heading into Thursday's game. It won't have to wait long if it's to get another streak started. The Tigers play Hotchkiss at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Hayden.
The two teams only see each other on the court once each season, but the match means a lot to both sides as they see each other during a spirited summer training camp each year.
"This is one the girls really want," Planansky said. "We didn't play to the best of our ability when we played them last year, and we're ready to take them on this year."
