Police, fire and ambulance calls

3:30 a.m. Steamboat Springs Police Department officers were called to a report of a bear in a dumpster in the 3200 block of Apr├Ęs Ski Way. The person who called opened the dumpster lid, and the bear got out.

9:35 a.m. Officers were called to a report of illegal dumping in the 1400 block of Moraine Circle. Someone was putting trash on a dumpster.

10:54 a.m. West Routt Fire Protection District firefighters were called to a report of a fire at an oil well. It was suspected that lightning caused the fire. No one was injured.

12:19 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a suspicious incident in the 1700 block of Natches Way. A woman had been hearing a high-pitched noise in the area. It started after a thunderstorm.

1:03 p.m. Officers were called to check on the welfare of a person in the 2500 block of Cattle Kate Circle. A woman was concerned because she could not contact her boyfriend. The 49-year-old boyfriend was found inside, and he had died.

3:28 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a bear that got into a dumpster in the 1600 block of 13th Street.

3:31 p.m. Officers were called to a report of fraudulent wire transfers in the 2000 block of Snow Bowl Plaza.

3:47 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a truck that ran a school bus stop sign at Eighth and Pine streets. It could not be located.

3:59 p.m. Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue firefighters were called to help an unconscious person in the 28200 block of Thorpe Mountain Drive.

5:40 p.m. Steamboat firefighters were called to help a sick person in the 2800 block of Owl Hoot Trail.

5:42 p.m. Officers were called to a report of a person who found their backyard gate damaged in the 500 block of Laurel Street. It was suspected a bear was responsible.

7:18 p.m. Officers were called to check on the welfare of a man in the 1300 block of Delta Queen Court. Everything was fine.
