Next era of 20 under 40 honorees to be celebrated at July 27 event

Last year's 20 Under 40 honorees raise their glasses for a celebratory toast.

Call it a passing of the torch. The next era of 20 under 40 leaders is here.

Generating success in their lives, careers and families, these locals — all younger than 40 — do what it takes to live, work, volunteer and make Steamboat Springs their home.

“We look at 20 under 40 as our opportunity to recognize and highlight up-and-coming talent that will help shape the future of Steamboat Springs," said Suzanne Schlicht, Steamboat Pilot and Today publisher.

From 5 to 7 p.m. July 27, the 20 under 40 Celebration will take place at the Haymaker Patio and Grill. There, honorees will be recognized with a champagne toast and live entertainment.

Steamboat Today, along with Steamboat Young Professionals Network, are sponsoring the event, where the 20 under 40 honorees will be introduced at the party featuring summer cocktails, appetizers, live entertainment by Pat Waters and more.

"As with last year's compilation, this year's list of 20 under 40 honorees heralds some of the younger members of our community who rise to the top in their professional fields and give back to the community we all love," said Eugene Buchanan, Steamboat Today Magazine Editor. "It's truly an honor to celebrate all their contributions to Steamboat."

As with any compilation, whittling the list to only 20 was tough, Buchanan said. More than 100 entries overflowed the committee's inbox, any of whom could have made the cut.

Characteristics for which honorees were selected included a rising leader younger than 40 who lives and works in the Steamboat area, professional success, a proven track record of contributing to the community and making a difference, job experience, professional awards, civic engagement and the ability to meet challenges and overcome obstacles.

"With past and current recipients, this selection and event is doing a great job of recognizing the accomplishments and hard work of individuals in our community," said Reed Jones, 2017 YPN chairman. "The majority of past and current honorees are YPN members, confirming that what YPN is doing for the community is well received."

Ticket to the event are $35 each and available at steamboattoday.com/tickets.
