Sunny skies dominate next week’s forecast for Steamboat
November 25, 2011
Steamboat Springs — Bright blue skies and daytime highs in the mid-40s will be the norm for the next week in Steamboat Springs.
After a fast-moving system passed through Steamboat late Friday, a high-pressure system will camp out over the Colorado Rockies, resulting in dry weather and mild temperatures. The forecast from the National Weather Service's Grand Junction forecast office calls for sunny skies and highs in the mid-40s through late next week. Overnight lows will hover in the upper teens and low 20s.
Those lows should be cold enough for Steamboat Ski Area to continue snowmaking operations at night and into the early morning. The ski area, which opened for the 2011-12 season Wednesday, is offering four lifts serving 32 trails.
The ski area is reporting 46 inches of cumulative snowfall since Oct. 7, and a mid-mountain base of 21 inches.
