Steamboat’s Towny Anderson named Downtowner of the Year
September 21, 2010
Steamboat Springs — Mainstreet Steamboat Springs announced today that Towny Anderson of Steamboat has been chosen as the 2010 Governor's Award recipient of the Downtowner of the Year Award.
According to a Mainstreet news release, “Anderson's dedication to the success of downtown Steamboat Springs is evident in his attempts to retain the court services of Routt County and to lobby to keep the postal services for the area in downtown Steamboat. His participation in the Friends of the Chief's efforts to acquire and establish the historic Chief Theater as a cultural and performing arts center may result in a more vibrant performing arts venue as an anchor to the downtown core.”
Anderson has served on the Mainstreet board since the organization’s inception in 2004, according to the release, and as president from 2008 to 2010.
The Governor's Awards are a part of Downtown Colorado Inc.'s annual conference, which is this week in Glenwood Springs. Anderson is scheduled to receive the award at a banquet Thursday, according to the release.
