Steamboat’s Schrock is playing soccer at Lindenwood University
May 18, 2012
Steamboat Springs — Miranda Schrock was a familiar sight on the sports field during her Steamboat Springs High School career. She spent her time playing with the boys in ice hockey and with girls on the soccer pitch.
So as she enters her last year at Lindenwood University in St. Charles, Mo., it's fitting that Schrock, a 2008 Steamboat graduate, is playing both sports collegiately.
Schrock played three years of hockey for the Lady Lions, including being part of a pair of American Collegiate Hockey Association Division I National Championships.
But with the school transitioning from NAIA to Division II — and the hockey program going Division I — Schrock decided to play soccer again.
She walked onto the soccer team last season, played in 16 games and did enough to earn a scholarship for this upcoming season.
"We want to work to hopefully make it to the conference finals," Schrock said.
