Steamboat’s Rally for the Cure coordinator steps down
August 6, 2012
Steamboat Springs — The Rally for the Cure golf tournament in Steamboat Springs celebrated another record year in 2012. And after 13 successful years, longtime tournament coordinator Linda Danter has decided to step down.
"I have decided that I will no longer coordinate Steamboat's Rally," Danter wrote in an email. "I want to thank all my team for sticking with me for all these years."
This year, the tournament raised an estimated $43,878 to be used to help people facing breast cancer in our community. The tournament drew 232 golfers, 111 hole sponsors and 186 items that were used in prize drawings. There also were 197 items donated for the silent auction.
Danter reported that $38,878 went to the Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Project and will be used to help families here in Routt County. The remaining $5,000 went to Rally for the Cure.
"In the past 13 years, we have raised just over $294,000," Danter wrote. "I am so very proud of all our efforts and the impact we have had on our community."
There was no immediate word on who would organize the tournament going forward, and Danter could not immediately be reached by telephone Monday.
