Todd Lodwick has proven it dozens and dozens of times, and he proved it again three times during the weekend. Racing in a trio of Continental Cup races at Soldier Hallow, Utah, Lodwick proved he was a step better than the field. He swept all three races.

On Sunday, he had the fourth best jump, but he managed to track down the field and cruise to an easy victory. He finished in first by 37.4 seconds.

That was, in essence, the story of the weekend for Lodwick. He jumped to 14th place Friday and then cruised to victory. That was his closest race, as he won by merely 14 seconds. On Saturday, he jumped to sixth then skied to a 15 second victory.

The strong weekend will allow Lodwick to return to World Cup action when that series returns from a holiday break early in 2013.

A number of other United States and Steamboat Springs skiers competed in the event. Michael Ward had the strongest finish, taking second behind Lodwick on Friday. He was 11th on Saturday and 37th on Sunday.

Brett Denney was 18th on Friday, 23rd on Saturday and 14th on Sunday. Tyler Smith was 23rd on Friday, 35th on Saturday and 36th on Sunday. Adam Loomis was 30th both Friday and Sunday and 33rd on Saturday. Aleck Ganticdk was 40th both Friday and Sunday while Spencer Knickerbocker was 50th in both of those races. Ben Berend was 37th on Friday and 50th on Saturday. Jasper Good placed 51st on Saturday and 52nd on Sunday.

Bryan Fletcher leads U.S. World Cup team

Steamboat Springs Nordic combined skier Bryan Fletcher led the U.S. Ski Team on Sunday at a World Cup event in Ramsau, Austria, finishing 17th. Fletcher was in 25th place after the jumping portion of the event, then made up major ground to finish where he did. Mikko Kokslien, of Norway, won the event.

Billy Demong was the only other U.S. skier, and he finished 45th.
