Steamboat’s Bob Milne lands executive position with Wyndham

— Bob Milne, who worked his way up the property management mountain in Steamboat Springs to become owner of The Resort Co., has been named president of Wyndham Vacation Rentals North America.

Milne sold The Resort Co. to a private equity firm in 2007 and stayed at the helm as a minority owner until August, when Wyndham purchased the company. It manages vacation condominiums in the Vail Valley and Breckenridge as well as Steamboat.

Wyndham Vacations is part of a network of thousands of hotel properties across the world. The company also acquired another management company with a significant presence in Steamboat, ResortQuest, in 2010.

Milne said he will relocate to Wyndham's Parsippany, N.J., office within 30 to 60 days.

"It was an opportunity I could not pass up and am excited about the new challenges," Milne wrote in an e-mail Monday. "I of course will miss Steamboat."

In his new role, Milne will be responsible for leading and growing the company's North American rental businesses, including ResortQuest, Steamboat Resorts and The Resort Co. He will report to Geoff Ballotti, president and CEO of Wyndham Exchange & Rentals.
