Sumner Cotton, left, was third and Wally Magill first in the U16 boys race at the Yellowstone Ski Festival in Montana.

Steamboat Springs skiers got a fast start to their season as the Winter Sports Club Nordic skiing team hit the road over the weekend to complete a weekend of training and compete in one race at the Yellowstone Ski Festival in West Yellowstone, Montana.

Waverly Gebhardt was seventh among U18 skiers and 30th overall, Sadie Cotton 13th in U18 and 43rd overall and Sidney Barbier 12th in U16 and 64th overall.

In the longest men's race, a 10K, Wyatt Gebhardt placed third among U20 skiers and was 22nd overall. Noel Keeffe was 5th in U20 and 28th overall, Jimmy Colfer 8th in U18 and 43rd overall, Sven Tate 10th in U18 and 46th overall and Kieran Hahn 18th in U18 and 60th overall.
