December 10, 2010
Steamboat Springs — Steamboat Springs resident Michele Dunklin, 47, has been identified as the woman who was critically injured in a U.S. Highway 40 head-on collision Wednesday near Hayden.
Dunklin was flown to Denver Health, where she remains in the intensive care unit.
Dunklin, a longtime bank teller at Vectra Bank, is the wife of Steve Dunklin, general sales manager at Cook Chevrolet, Jeep & Subaru. Steve Dunklin and their 14-year-old son, Zach, are at Denver Health.
"She is stable now," said Michelle Diehl, a family friend. "No one will tell us she is totally out of the woods. Her body now has to kick in and do the rest of the healing."
The family has been inundated with phone calls from concerned friends, so Diehl has set up a blog to let people know how her friend is doing. The address is http://www.micheledunklin.blogspot.com.
