Steamboat Springs to have warm, dry weather for the week

Michael Schrantz

— While the East Coast braces itself against Hurricane Sandy, folks in Steamboat Springs will enjoy mostly clear skies and warm fall weather through the week.

A trough on the West Coast coming in from the Pacific Ocean is pushing a ridge over Northwest Colorado. The high pressure system will result in dry and warming conditions, said Mike Chamberlain, of the National Weather Service in Grand Junction. The trough from the West will begin to break down the ridge Friday. Chances for precipitation from the resulting low pressure system late in the week are slim, according to Chamberlain.

The forecast high temperatures for the week range from the high 50s to the mid-60s. The overnight lows will dip to about 30 degrees.
