Steamboat Springs Team Lightning swim team members compete at state

Steamboat Springs — Nine Steamboat Springs Team Lightning swim team members competed at the Colorado Swimming Long Course State Championships from July 29 to 31.
The meet featured more than 50 teams and 1,100 of the top swimmers in Colorado.
The Steamboat team, smaller than most of the other teams, finished 39th.
Amy Brodie, competing in the open division, finished ninth in the 50-meter freestyle, 15th in the 100-meter freestyle and 19th in the 100-meter butterfly.
In the girls 10-and-younger division, Avery Harrington was 38th in the 50 free, 51st in the 100 free, 62nd in the 50 backstrock, 23rd in the 50 breaststroke and 48th in the 100 fly. Parker Kortas was 34th in the 100 breast and 37th in the 50 breast. Reilly Mewborn was 52nd in the 50 back.
Johnathon Kaminski was 26th in the 50 breast, 28th in the 100 breast and 55th in the 50 back in the boys 10-and-younger division.
In the boys 12-and-younger division, Frank Ruppel was sixth in the 200 back, eighth in the 50 back and 11th in the 100 back.
Samantha Terranova was 18th in the 800 free and 19th in the 1,500 free in the girls 14-and-under division.
The team continues action today and Sunday with the Seasonal State Championship meet in Craig.
Brodie also qualified for Colorado Zone Championship team in the 50 free, 100 free, 100 fly and 100 back. The team consists of the top swimmers in Colorado and will travel to California next week to compete.
