Steamboat Springs School District announces new assistant principals
May 30, 2013
Steamboat Springs — Every campus in the Steamboat Springs School District will have a new assistant principal next school year.
Heidi Chapman-Hoy, currently a sixth-grade language arts and social studies teacher, has been chosen to serve as assistant principal at Steamboat Springs Middle School.
She will take over for Jerry Buelter, who was named principal earlier this month following the resignation of longtime head of school Tim Bishop.
To replace outgoing elementary school assistant principal Mark Strasberg, who has accepted a principal’s position in Fort Collins, the Steamboat district will add a half-time assistant principal at both Soda Creek and Strawberry Park elementary schools.
Superintendent Brad Meeks said Tuesday the principals at the elementary schools wanted to make the change to ensure each building has an assistant principal.
Amy Bohmer, currently an eighth-grade language arts and social studies teacher at the middle school, has been selected to serve as assistant principal at Soda Creek. She will continue her teaching duties part time, according to a news release from the district.
Jenny Krentz, currently an interventionist at Strawberry Park, has been named the assistant principal at that campus. She will continue serving part time as an interventionist.
"Heidi, Amy and Jenny are excited about the opportunity," Meeks said, adding that all three served as administrative interns this school year.
Steamboat Springs High School will welcome current Soroco Secondary Schools Principal Dennis Alt, who will serve as the new assistant principal under Kevin Taulman. Alt will replace Meghan Hanson Peters, who is returning to the classroom after nearly two years as assistant principal.
