Steamboat Springs police break car window to get to unconscious man
October 18, 2012
Steamboat Springs — It is thought a man who was found unconscious in a car Thursday morning in Steamboat Springs might have died from a heart attack.
Steamboat Springs Police Department Sgt. John McCartin said that at about 9 a.m., officers were called to a report of a man passed out in a car near Russell’s Auto Salon, 1850 Lincoln Ave.
The car was locked, so McCartin broke the car window and pulled the man out. Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue firefighters arrived to help, but the man was dead.
Routt County Deputy Coroner Mitch Locke identified the man as 53-year-old James Habecker, of Westminster.
McCartin said that Habecker was a delivery driver and that he had been discovered by workers after making a delivery.
