February 2, 2013
Steamboat Springs — The Steamboat Springs High School hockey team tied Dakota Ridge at 4 on Saturday in a physical matchup.
Steamboat, 6-8-2, held the lead for most of the night before Dakota Ridge scored a goal midway through the third period to send it to overtime.
The game was marked by penalties, the scorekeeper having to substitute pens to fill out the scorecard.
Between the two teams, there were 28 penalties including three game misconducts.
"I'm not even sure where to start," Steamboat coach Benny Tollar said, holding back in a game where penalties dictated any type of rhythm for either team.
Steamboat, however, had every chance to win it in regulation.
