Steamboat Springs boys tennis clocks Durango, 7-0

The Steamboat Springs High School boys tennis team will begin a big, important tournament today that could go a long way toward showing the team exactly where it ranks in Colorado.

That's what made Thursday's 7-0 dual victory against Durango so sweet, Sailors coach John Aragon said.

Steamboat handled Durango all the way down the lineup, making Thursday's win the most complete of the season so far for the team.

"It was a really good dual," Aragon said. "Especially at No. 2 and No. 4 doubles, they had pretty good athletes. Our kids really had to step up and play to their abilities. It was great to see them do that."

Keegan Burger easily won at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-1. Mirko Erspamer won at No. 2 singles, 6-3, 6-1, and Jack Burger cruised at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-0.

Kyle Rogers and Luke Farny took their match at No. 1 doubles, 6-2, 6-0. Gabri Erspamer and Colin Green won at No. 2 doubles, 4-6, 6-1, 6-0. Erik Owen and Stefan Sortland won at No. 3 doubles, 6-4, 6-4, and Lev Tsypin and Corbin Diehl won at No. 4 doubles, 2-6, 6-1, 6-2.
