Steamboat soccer falls, 1-0, to Evergreen
September 22, 2012
Steamboat Springs — It wasn't a bad game, Steamboat Springs High School soccer coach Rob Bohlmann said. In fact, the Sailors did plenty he liked.
Still, they couldn't come away with a win Saturday playing at Evergreen. Steamboat lost, 1-0.
"The team put in a terrific effort," Bohlmann said. "It was unfortunate we weren't able to tie the game up because we really created several good scoring opportunities."
Evergreen got its goal midway through the first half, but Bohlmann said his team had some close calls offensively in the remaining 60 minutes. He said that Evergreen got the better of the game in the first half but that his team stayed in it.
"We probably had even more opportunity in the second half, and we had three great chances in the first," he said.
As close as they came, the shots didn't slip in, however. Steamboat dropped to 4-4 on the season.
The team is back in action Tuesday at home against Eagle Valley.
