Steamboat skier leads Americans at FIS Junior Worlds

— Steamboat Springs skier Cliff Field led the Americans in today's opening Nordic combined competition at the FIS Junior World Ski Championships in Otepaa, Estonia.

Field finished 19th in a HS100/10-kilometer event, less than three minutes behind winner Johannes Rydzek of Germany.

Slovenia's Marjan Jelenko was second, and Estonia's Kaarel Nurmsalu was third. Nick Hendrickson of Park City, Utah, was 22nd, followed by a pair of Steamboat skiers, Michael Ward in 36th and Erik Lynch in 42nd.

The next event is a HS100/5-kilometer event Saturday.
