Steamboat Ski Area unveils 2012-13 pass prices

Offerings next year will include First Tracks pass

— With a little more than four weeks left in the ski season, it already is time to start thinking about next year's ski pass.

Steamboat Ski Area on Wednesday announced its season pass prices for the 2012-13 ski season.

The cost of unrestricted adult season passes purchased with a $99 deposit before June 1 is increasing 3.2 percent from $929 to $959.

The ski area has added a First Tracks pass option for those who purchase a season pass or 15-day pass. The First Tracks pass will cost $219 for the season or $179 for 10 days.

First Tracks allows skiers and riders to start loading the gondola 30 minutes before the first lifts open at 8:30 a.m.

First Tracks proved popular this season as evidenced by the lines that wrapped through Gondola Square on mornings when the snow report delivered good news.

"Limited quantities of both the First Tracks season and 10-day pass will be available while supplies last," the ski area reported in a news release.

The ski area again will offer the six- and 15-day passes. When purchased by June 1, the six-day pass will cost $439, and the 15-day pass will cost $719. Skiers and riders can add days to the six-day pass for $49 each and to the 15-day pass for $39 each.

For the 27th season, parents or legal guardians who purchase an adult season pass will receive one free child season pass that can be used by children younger than 13.

Again this season, pass holders can pay $75 to upgrade their pass for unlimited skiing and riding at Winter Park Resort.

The ski area has increased the number of Friends and Family passes available to pass holders from four to six. Two of those days are available only from Nov. 22 to Dec. 12 at a cost of $59. The passes will cost $69 starting Dec. 13 with the exception of Dec. 22 to Jan. 6 and March 9 to 31, when the rate will be $89.

Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association member businesses can continue to participate in the merchant pass program for adult season passes and the 15-day pass. A $99 down payment on merchant passes is due by Aug. 15, with the balance due in January 2013. Merchant pass holders also will have the ability to purchase the six Friends and Family passes.
