Steamboat Ride 4 Yellow filling up
Tour de Steamboat event this weekend is full

Steamboat Springs — Those hoping to ride with Lance Armstrong next month in the Ride 4 Yellow event better register fast.
Those hoping to ride this weekend in the sixth annual Tour de Steamboat event are already too late.
Katie Lindquist, with the Tour de Steamboat, said tickets are still available for $25 to Friday night's dinner and silent auction at the Sheraton Steamboat Resort, but the 500 spots allocated for Saturday's rides are spoken for. That consists of 300 cyclists for the 110-mile ride and another 200 cyclists split between a 40-mile trip to Stagecoach Reservoir and a 25-mile ride to Sidney Peak Ranch.
"We're totally psyched," Lindquist said.
David Nagel, event director for the Ride 4 Yellow event, said he has weathered the storm after last week's announcement that seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong will be in Steamboat Springs for the Aug. 8 event.
It wasn't easy, though.

"We figured the 'Lance factor' to be 500 percent," he said. "We went from 100 hits on our website a day to 5,000. Everything's been like that, 500 percent."
He said sponsorship donations, originally budgeted at $25,000, have reached $50,000. About 26 spots remain for the Ride the Divide event, which will feature Armstrong.
Riders are required to raise $500 to participate in the 26-mile tour along the Continental Divide Trail. A shorter ride will take place at Steamboat Ski Area later in the morning. Registration for that ride is $100, and riders must raise an additional $100 to help the fight against cancer.
"They will be starting the ride after Lance comes from his," Nagel said. "We will have a little ceremony and another kickoff, and then they'll take off to ride down to the bottom of the gondola."
Tickets for a charity lunch during the event are also still available. For more information or to snag one of the remaining spots in the ride with Armstrong, check out http://www.ride4yellow.com.
