Steamboat Pilot & Today ad director recognized by national magazine
April 9, 2012
Editor & Publisher magazine named Steamboat Pilot & Today Advertising Director Meg Boyer one of the top young leaders in the newspaper industry in its April edition.
Boyer, 30, was one of 25 newspaper professionals profiled in "25 Under 35: The Next Generation of Publishing Leaders." Editor & Publisher is the leading trade publication covering the newspaper industry.
Boyer was recognized for her work leading the newspaper's advertising department. Under Boyer's leadership in the past year, the newspaper has significantly increased digital media sales and launched a variety of new products and initiatives including Best of the Boat, HotSteamboatDeals.com and social media management.
"I am extremely proud of Meg and the work she has done at the Pilot & Today," General Manager Scott Stanford said. "If you look at the list of individuals recognized, most of them hail from much larger newspapers like the Denver Post, Indianapolis Star and Cleveland Plain Dealer. So it's a great honor for Meg and our community newspaper to be included in that list."
Boyer has spent her entire newspaper career at the Pilot & Today. Boyer came to the Pilot & Today in the summer of 2003, shortly after graduating from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She started as a copyeditor but quickly moved up, serving first as the newspaper's news editor before taking over the newspaper's creative services department in 2007. In October 2010, Boyer was named the newspaper's advertising director.
"I'm humbled and honored by the recognition from Editor & Publisher," Boyer said. "Really, this is recognition for the entire sales team and support staff at the Pilot & Today. I think awards like this reflect the work of our whole team."
Boyer is married to Pilot & Today Editor Brent Boyer. They have a 1-year-old daughter, Avery.
