Steamboat lodging barometer projects uptick in visitors
June 12, 2013
Steamboat Springs — There should be an uptick in visitors in Steamboat Springs this Saturday compared with the past weekend.
The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association's lodging barometer reports about 8,600 visitors have made plans to stay Saturday night in Steamboat.
That amounts to 58 percent of Steamboat's total lodging occupancy.
The actual number of visitors typically exceeds the forecast because of last-minute travelers.
The 3,700 visitors projected for June 8 jumped to 5,100 who stayed in Steamboat, according to the report.
Last year, this weekend saw 10,500 visitors after 8,900 were projected.
The lodging barometer surveys local properties to make its projections.
