Steamboat Golf Shoot-Out provides opportunity to support junior golf

— Steve Dodson looks at the 11th annual Steamboat Golf Shoot-Out as a great opportunity.

It's a great opportunity for local players to come out and play the world-class golf course at the Catamount Ranch & Club, and it's the perfect opportunity to show support for junior golf and the Steamboat Springs High School golf team.

"We still have some spots available, and we are ready to sign any players up," Dodson said Wednesday. Dodson helped start the tournament more than a decade ago to help support the high school team. Since then, the tournament has grown to support junior golf, but it still is a mainstay for the high school program.

Organizers are encouraging players to register by May 31. The tournament will take place June 3 with shotgun starts at 10 a.m. and noon. The tournament will use a modified two best ball, and teams will be made up of four players. Tees will be assigned by handicap.

The cost to enter is $135 per person, and checks should be made out to the Steamboat Springs Junior Golf Association. For more information about the tournament or to sign up, call Steve Dodson at 970-846-4223 or Tom Taylor at 970-846-4420.

There also will be silent and live auctions, a golf skills contest and prizes.
