Steamboat girls lacrosse struggles at Aspen, loses, 16-0
April 16, 2014
Steamboat Springs — Aspen scored easily and it scored early, and it rolled Wednesday to a 16-0 victory against the Steamboat Springs High School girls lacrosse team in Aspen.
The Skiers went up 4-0 in the first two minutes, battering a Steamboat team that again, thanks largely to injuries, was playing without any substitutes.
"They did whatever they wanted to in the first half," Steamboat coach Betsy Frick said. "We did play better in the second half. We got a few shots off. All I can say is we did play better."
Steamboat slipped to 1-9 with the loss. It returns to the field with its home finale Wednesday against Battle Mountain.
"I have to give the girls on the team credit. A lot of teams in this position would be down, but they enjoy each other and enjoy the game, and they come off the field pretty upbeat," Frick said. "That's a huge credit. They're out there to have fun."
