April 17, 2012
Steamboat Springs — The Steamboat Springs High School girls lacrosse team played its best game of the year Tuesday in falling to Grand Junction, 14-9.
Steamboat (0-10) played the Mountain Conference's third-place team to a 6-all halftime score before Grand Junction's depth took over.
Aleigh Aurin led the Sailors with five goals. Teagann Yeager, Courtney Reynolds, Hannah Samlowski and Jessie Wallace each had one.
"We figured out we were falling apart as a team," Aurin said. "We worked harder to be more of a team."
Steamboat next plays at 5 p.m. Friday in Grand Junction against Durango. The team also will play at 11 a.m. Saturday against Durango.
"By far, this was our best game," coach Betsy Frick said. "The girls played awesome."
