Steamboat Free Summer Concert Series Guide: The band rundown of 2017 headliners

Description: Hailing from San Diego, this award-winning reggae group is known for its spiritually driven, refreshing rock infused with roots reggae. The group won Artist of the Year at the 2017 San Diego Music Awards, and this summer, will be touring with the reggae rock trio Pepper. Tribal Seeds has also shared the stage with Rebelution, Taking Back Sunday, O.A.R., Dave Matthews Band, Jack White, Red Hot Chili Peppers and many more. Tribal Seeds was originally formed by brothers, Steven Rene Jacobo on lyrics, vocals, guitar and Tony-Ray Jacobo as producer. Now they’ve added a few more to their lineup including Victor Navarro on bass, Ryan Gonzo on guitar and vocals and Luis Castillo on keys and vocals.

Description: Nostalgia will ensue with this classic act that many know from their youth. Bursting onto the scene in 1986 with former band, The Range, Hornsby and his band created pop hits like “The Way It Is” and “Mandolin Rain.” Since then, the three-time Grammy Award winner has built a career as a singer, pianist, composer and bandleader collaborating with the likes of the Grateful Dead, Don Henley, Bob Dylan, Ricky Skaggs and Bonnie Raitt. His performance with The Noisemakers will offer a glimpse of a restless spirit with an arsenal of songs that have flown under the radio waves radar as the band continues to embark on new musical terrain.

Band: The Record Company

Description: They’ve got swagger, they’ve got roots and they’ve got that rock ‘n’ roll. This three-piece rock band has a raw sound with a tinge of blues inspired by the likes of Muddy Waters and Jimmy Reed, with a dash of Chuck Berry-esque rock ‘n’ roll and a hint of modern roots reminiscent of The Black Keys and White Stripes. Sharing a love of blues, Wisconsin native Chris Vos, singer-guitarist, met bass player Alex Stiff and drummer Marc Cazorla and formed the Record Company in 2011. In 2016, the band released its debut album “Give It Back to You,” which has been nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Blues Album. This year, The Record Company been busy with a recently released music video for its vinyl-only track, “Baby I’m Broken,” as well as the band’s summer tour.

Band: The Wood Brothers

Description: One part folk, a dash of blues and a twist of bluegrass all rooted in jazz is the musical recipe created by brothers Oliver and Chris Wood. Though the two have successful individual music careers — Chris Wood id a member of Medeski Martin & Wood and Oliver Wood youred with Tinsley Ellis before releasing a half-dozen albums with his band Kin Johnson – the brothers decided to join forces in 2005 as The Wood Brothers with Jano Rix as the third member. Their newest album, “Paradise,” follows the band’s 2013 release album, “The Muse,” which was recorded almost entirely live around a tree of microphones.

Band: End of Summer Jam

When: Gates at 3 p.m. | Music at 3:15 p.m. | Sunday, Sept. 3 | Howelsen Hill

Description: The first annual Steamboat Springs Free Summer Concert Series Labor Day Festival will feature the “End of Summer Jam” show. The event features live music from a variety of genres with performances by local bands Small Town World, Yer State Birds and Wheelhouse as well as the funky beat of the Soul Rebels. Stay tuned for the headlining act, which will be announced later this summer.
