Many residents may be eligible for a PTC rebate
Many Coloradans may be eligible for the Colorado Property Tax/Rent/Heat Credit program, commonly known as the "PTC Rebate," which serves low-income seniors and disabled individuals, according to a Department of Revenue news release.
The program is offered to full-year residents who are 65 or older (or a surviving spouse at least 58 years of age) or who were disabled regardless of age during the entire filing/calendar year. Qualified applicants can receive as much as $600 for rent or property tax paid and as much as $192 of heating expenses they have paid during 2013, for a maximum rebate of $792.
The actual rebate total is based on the applicant's income and expenses. Any Colorado resident who meets the requirements for the rebate should submit the 2013 rebate application, Form 104 PTC.
The application plus information about eligibility requirements are available on the Department of Revenue's Taxation Web site at http://www.TaxColorado.com by clicking the "PTC" button at the top of the page.
Atmos Energy encourages people to 'share the warmth'
Atmos Energy is encouraging customers to participate in the utility's Sharing the Warmth program, which is designed to supplement payments made by elderly, disabled or low-income customers who would otherwise be unable to pay the full cost of heating their home.
"It's as easy as rounding-up the pennies on your natural gas bill," Atmos Energy Director of Energy Assistance Dan Alderson said. "That excess change goes straight into our Sharing the Warmth program, which can then be distributed to low-income residents this winter."
To donate, check the voluntary donation box on the back of your gas bill or call 1-888-286-6700 to make your donation via the phone. Visit http://www.atmosenergy.com/share for more details.
