Steamboat Briefs: Winter Sports Club now accepting parade entries

Steamboat Springs — The Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club now is accepting Winter Carnival parade entries for the 98th annual event.
The parade is after the street events Feb. 6 on Lincoln Avenue. Anyone is welcome to participate, but only those who use a diamond hitch are eligible to be judged. The entry fee is a $7 Winter Carnival button, which is used to attend all of the week's events.

3 students from Routt named to fall honor roll
Three University of Wyoming students from Routt County have been named to the school's President's Roll for fall 2010 semester. Hayden's Jennifer Epp, Oak Creek's Emily Marie Strait and Steamboat Springs' Sarah Dixson each maintained a 4.0 grade-point average while in a minimum of 12 credit hours.
Lincoln road closure is planned for Feb. 5 and 6
Lincoln Avenue will be closed from Fifth to 11th street from 6 a.m. to 1 p.m. Feb. 5 and 6 for the 98th annual Winter Carnival street events. Contact the Steamboat Springs Resort Association with questions at 970-879-0880.
Council on Aging calls for Routt County centenarians
In May 2011, the Colorado Commission on Aging is considering having its annual Centenarian Celebration in Steamboat Springs, according to the Routt County Council on Aging. Anybody who knows of someone in Routt County who will be turning 100 this year or already has reached that milestone are asked to contact Laura Schmidt at the Routt County Council on Aging at email@example.com or 970-879-0633.

Registration is now open for orchestra programs
Registration is open for the Steamboat Symphony Orchestra's Education Programs beginning in January and February. Youth Orchestra, String Ensemble and Cello Choir Programs are offered for violin, viola, cello and bass players, for youths and adults. Other instruments may be included in Youth Orchestra. Scholarships are available for participants younger than 20 years old.
