Meeting is set to address new legislative redistricting
The Colorado Reapportionment Commission will present proposed boundary changes to House District 57 and Senate District 8 during a public meeting scheduled for 6 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Steamboat Springs Community Center.
Redistricting is required after each decennial census to adjust House and Senate districts to reflect population changes. As it's proposed, House District 57 would lose Grand and Jackson counties and gain the rest of Garfield County. House District 57 Rep. Randy Baumgardner, a Hot Sulphur Springs Republican, would lose the seat when his term expires in 2012 if the proposed changes are approved
The proposed redistricting changes to Senate District 8 would add Grand and Summit counties but lose Eagle County. Hayden Republican Jean White represents the district.
