Free Thanksgiving dinner at the Community Center
Routt County United Way will host the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner on Thursday at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. To sign up to bring traditional Thanksgiving food items or to volunteer, call 970-879-5605 or go to http://www.routtcountyunitedway.org.
Hayden Homies holiday celebration is Thursday

Thanksgiving yoga class offered for $10 Thursday
A Thanksgiving yoga class is from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Yoga Center of Steamboat. The cost is $10 for the special class, and all other classes will be canceled Thursday. Normal classes will resume Friday.
Lions Club tree sale is at Christy Sports, downtown
The Steamboat Ski Town Lions Club annual Christmas tree sale is taking place at Christy Sports and the downtown lot at 13th Street and Lincoln Avenue.
The trees, which are Fraser firs from Stebbins Tree Farm, range in size from 5 to 10 feet tall and are $10 per foot.

Hours are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily at the Christy Sports location as well as from 3 to 6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekends at the downtown location while supplies last.
Money raised during the fundraiser benefits numerous community programs and initiatives that Steamboat Ski Town Lions Club supports throughout the year.
Computer science classes to be held during December
Bud Werner Memorial Library is offering Hour of Code classes every day during Computer Science Education week from Dec. 9 to 15 in the Teen Project Room. Introduction to computer science classes will be led by Michael Drennan from 4 to 5 p.m. and are designed to demystify code.
Those who attend the free classes are asked to bring a smartphone, tablet or laptop, if they have one, and are asked to watch a five-minute video in advance at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKIu9yen5nc. No prior computer coding experience is needed, and the class is open to all ages.
Merry Mainstreet event to be held Dec. 14 downtown
The fifth annual Merry Mainstreet holiday celebration is from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 14 in downtown Steamboat Springs. The event features open houses in the stores, caroling, visits with Santa and the Elf on the Shelf scavenger hunt in addition to the gingerbread house competition and the Santa Light Parade, for which entries are being accepted.
Entries in the parade must be lit and have a festive theme. There is no cost to enter the parade, but registration is required by contacting 970-846-1800 or email@example.com.
Those interested in participating in the gingerbread house competition are asked to contact Jenni DeFouw at firstname.lastname@example.org or 970-367-3037 with the theme and approximate base size of the house. Categories are available for adults and children.
The gingerbread houses will be on display beginning Dec. 9 and will be highlighted during the Merry Mainstreet celebration. Businesses interested in offering space to display the gingerbread houses can contact DeFouw for more information.
During the Dec. 14 event, Lincoln Avenue will be closed to traffic.
