Steamboat briefs: Tread of Pioneers Museum free with chili ticket stub

Routt County launches new site with improved functions

Routt County recently revamped its website, http://www.co.routt.co.us, to improve functionality, according to a news release. The new site launched Friday and is more user-friendly and easy to navigate. It allows users to more easily find and receive public information. The county contracted with Manhattan, Kan.-based CivicPlus at a cost of $30,000 for the new website and $5,000 annually to have the site hosted and maintained, according to the release.

Soroco High School juniors to run stand during parade

The Soroco High School junior class will run a concession stand in Decker Park after the Oak Creek Labor Day parade Monday. Items include one-third pound certified Angus burgers, brats made by Steamboat Meat & Seafood Co., and hot dogs. All plates will be served with chips and cookies, pop and candy also will be available. Proceeds support the Soroco junior class.



Upcoming Off the Beaten Path Bookstore events

■ Friday: An author reception for eight nationally renowned children’s authors and illustrators is at 8:30 p.m. at Off the Beaten Path Bookstore, 68 Ninth St. The authors and illustrators are in town as part of the children’s literary festival Book Feast. A $7 Book Feast wristband is required for admission.

■ Friday and Sept. 8: Book Feast is at Bud Werner Memorial Library and the Depot Arts Center.



The festival features children’s book authors and illustrators, who will lead presentations and workshops for children of all ages. General admission is $7 for events at the library and $10 each for workshops at the Depot Art Center. Visit http://www.steamboatlibrary.org for more information and to sign up for workshops.

■ Sept. 13: The bookstore’s book club will discuss Literary Sojourn author Laura Lippman’s book “Baltimore Blues” at 6 p.m. at the bookstore.

■ Sept. 20: An evening with author Wendy Pabich, who will talk about her new book, “Taking on Water: How One Water Expert Challenged Her Inner Hypocrite, Reduced Her Water Footprint (without Sacrificing a Toasty Shower), and Found Nirvana,” at 7 p.m. in Library Hall.
