Steamboat briefs: Steamboat graduate Martha Anderson makes dean’s list

Martha Anderson, a 2012 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, was named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Cornell University. She is studying in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.

Create your own greeting cards in Saturday class

Learn to create your own greeting cards during a class with Chris Erickson from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Steamboat Arts & Crafts Gym, 1280 13th St. The $15 cost covers materials. Youths 7 and older can be dropped off.



Free snowshoe rentals are available in Stagecoach

Free snowshoe rentals are available to be used at Stagecoach State Park throughout winter. Call the park office at 970-736-2436 to reserve snowshoes in adult and children sizes. A valid pass is required to recreate within the park, and leashed pets are welcome. Free snacks for people and their pets are available at the park office.

Donate items for National Day of Service on Saturday

As part of the National Day of Service on Saturday, donations of personal care items will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. outside City Market. Items needed include shampoo, razors, toothpaste, toothbrushes, tissues, toilet paper, paper towels, household cleaners, dish soap (not dishwasher), laundry detergent, fabric softener, sponges and wipes. The items will be donated to LIFT-UP of Routt County. Youth EcoSummit slated for afternoon of Feb. 2

A Youth EcoSummit is from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Feb. 2. The inaugural conference for Routt County students in fourth grade through college is sponsored by the Sustainable Schools program and the Colorado Mountain College Student Sustainability Group, according to a news release.

The goals of the summit are:

■ To connect students and teachers who are promoting sustainability in schools

■ To empower students to make a difference in our community

■ To collaborate with peers on fostering green initiatives
