Steamboat briefs: Steamboat grad Paul Innes earns engineering degree

Paul Innes, a 2007 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School, has earned a Bachelor of Science degree in aerospace engineering from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo, Calif. Paul plans to travel for the summer before starting his career.
Session about Routt County water slated for Thursday
The Colorado Department of Water Resources will host a free educational session titled "Water Administration in Routt County" from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday at the Steamboat Springs Community Center.
This public information meeting will include a 30-minute presentation followed by a one-hour Q-and-A session about water rights and administration during this dry season. Call Water Commissioner Brian Romig at 970-846-0036 with questions.
Yoga on the Yampa to kick off with community class
Yoga on the Yampa, a weekend workshop with Iyengar Jayne Satter, is Friday through Sunday. The weekend for teachers and intermediate/advanced students kicks off with a community class for all levels at the Depot Art Center from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday.

Space available in city's summer ASSET Camps
There is limited space available in the city of Steamboat Springs ASSET Camps for kids in third through sixth grades. The River Runner kayaking camp runs Monday to June 29, the Lego Vehicle Engineering camp runs from July 16 to 20 and the Rock Climbing camp runs from July 23 to 27.

Strings Kitchen and Garden Tour tickets now available
The Strings Kitchen and Garden Tour features a 17-mile bicycle ride along Steamboat's scenic byways and stops at high country kitchens and gardens July 16. The tour, organized by the Guild of Strings Music Festival, will focus on homes and gardens in the Anglers and Storm Mountain Ranch neighborhoods.
The tour starts with a light breakfast and live music at Strings Park from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Homes are open until 3:30 p.m. Participants should bring water and wear sunscreen and comfortable shoes.
Tickets for the self-guided bicycle tour are $25 in advance and $30 the day of the event. The ride is easy to moderate at an elevation of about 6,700 feet, and support vehicles will be circling the route to assist cyclists. Tickets for the VIP tour are $65 and include transportation, a master gardener to answers questions, lunch and a goodie bag. CMC will offer a beginner rock climbing class in July
A beginner rock climbing class is being offered through Colorado Mountain College. Classroom sessions are at 5:30 p.m. July 10 and 12, and field sessions are July 14, 15 and 21. The cost is $107 and includes transportation and permit fees. Call 970-870-4444 to register for PED-150-SB01.
Haven Barbecue and Barn Dance is 6 p.m. Saturday
The third annual Haven Barbecue and Barn Dance is from 6 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Haven Community Center. The family-friendly event includes activities for kids, a live band and dancing, a homemade barbecue supper and a beer garden. New this year is a silent auction full of unique wellness and outdoor activity items, including a guided fly-fishing trip and a round of golf for four at Yampa Valley Golf Course. Tickets are $8 per student, $15 per adult, $25 per couple, $40 per family and free for children 5 and younger. Proceeds from the event benefit the Haven and will be allocated for roof and window repairs and replacements for the facility.
