Steamboat Briefs: Sports registration cutoff is 5:30 p.m. Thursday

The deadline to register teams for the Steamboat Springs Adult Basketball League, Adult Indoor Soccer League and the Adult Indoor Volleyball League is 5:30 p.m. Thursday. For registration information, please call the Parks, Open Space and Recreational Services Department at 879-4300.

Guide program offered for those older than 50

Steamboat's Over The Hill Gang and Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp. offer a free daily guide program to everyone older than 50 starting Sunday. Meet the uniformed guides in Gondola Square by the Chuckwagon across from the entrance to the gondola at 9 a.m. ready to ski; join them for lunch at 11:45 a.m. in the Thunderhead Food Court at the top of the gondola or on the snow at 12:30 p.m. near the bottom of the Thunderhead stairs.

Applications accepted for summer event funding

The Steamboat Springs Chamber Resort Association is accepting applications for summer 2010 special event funding. The application deadline is Jan. 1. For information or an application, contact Courtney Allen at or 970-875-7006.

Scarf sales benefit local breast cancer program

Pink scarves are on sale at The Epilogue Book Co. benefiting Yampa Valley Breast Cancer Awareness Program. The program provides funding for women in Yampa Valley with little or no insurance who are fighting breast cancer. Donations also are accepted. Donations of hand-knit or crocheted scarves can be made at Epilogue or by calling call Jo at 846-2627.
