Steamboat briefs: Silent auction to be held to benefit Minotto family

The Laurel Street School and Family Center is hosting a silent auction to raise money for the Minotto family of Steamboat Springs. Amy Minotto is undergoing medical treatment in Denver for a rare blood disease. The auction runs through Friday and includes items from numerous local businesses. Cash donations also will be accepted at the school, or mailed to Laurel Street Preschool, P.O. Box 774124, Steamboat Springs, CO 80477. The school's goal is to raise $800, the equivalent of one month's tuition for Eva Minotto, Amy's daughter.
Tennis Center to host a PickleBall Mixer Tournament
The Tennis Center at Steamboat Springs is hosting its first Pickleball Mixer Tournament from 1 to 4 p.m. April 28. The tournament will be a round-robin format with doubles play. There will be playoffs, time permitting. The cost is $15 per person. The entry deadline is April 25. For more information, call 970-879-8400.
Northwest Colorado VNA offering immunizations
Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is offering $21.50 immunizations for adults who are uninsured or underinsured including measles, mumps, rubella, HPV, chicken pox, pneumonia, meningitis, tetanus, diphtheria, whooping cough and hepatitis A and B.
The VNA also is offering a vaccine for shingles. Adults ages 60 and older who are low income and uninsured may qualify to receive the vaccine for $21.50 through the Merck Patient Vaccine Assistance Program. Apply for the program by scheduling an appointment.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other leading medical groups recommend being vaccinated against meningitis for youths ages 11 to 18 as well as those ages 19 to 21 who attend college. College students younger than 22 who received a vaccine before age 16 should receive a booster.

Daytime, overnight respite care offered for older adults
The Haven Assisted Living Center in Hayden offers daytime and overnight respite care for older adults who need supervision. The Adult Activity and Care program is from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays. The program includes lunch, activities and help with personal care needs. The cost is $75 per day or $50 for a half-day. Temporary overnight care is available for as many as 30 days for qualified individuals. Clients with memory care needs are welcome at a cost of $100 per day.
