Wild Films series at library features hummingbirds, bees

Bud Werner Memorial Library presents a free screening of “Super Hummingbirds,” a new documentary by Ann Johnson Prum and winner of the Best Cinematography Award at the 2017 International Wildlife Film Festival, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, in Library Hall.

With high-speed camerawork and breakthrough new science, the film allows viewers to enter the fast-paced world of hummingbirds as never before. They possess natural born super powers that enable them to fly backwards, upside-down and float in mid-air. And for the first time, we see them mate, lay eggs, take flight and raise families in intimate detail.

In addition, the library will screen a 2017 IWFF short film, “Tagging Bumble Bees to Study their Movements,” before the feature film. Visit steamboatlibrary.org/events for more information.
