Steamboat briefs: Registration still open for 2-day writers workshop

Steamboat Springs — Registration is still open for A Day for Writers, a two-day workshop sponsored by the Steamboat Writers Group and scheduled for July 22 and 23.
Facilitators for this year's workshop include Page Lambert, author and poet, leader of outdoor writing adventures and MFA faculty at the University of Denver, and Christine Goff, an award-winning author of mystery series and international thrillers.
Event participants are invited to read from their literary work during Five Minutes of Fame starting at 7:15 July 22 at the Depot Art Center. The public is invited to this event, which will be hosted by local author Cesare Rosati.

Routt County Riders to lead work day on Emerald
Routt County Riders will lead a trail work day on Emerald Mountain from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 9. Volunteers should meet at the Blackmere Drive gate at 9 a.m. Following the trail work, volunteers can enjoy lunch and beverages provided by New Belgium Brewing Company. Those who bring their bikes can ride down after.

Coffee with Council slated for 7:30 to 9 am Friday, July 8
Coffee with Council will be held from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Friday, July 8 in the Crawford Room of Centennial Hall, 124 10th St. The discussion topic will include the pros and cons of annexation. No RSVP is necessary; community members are welcome to drop by to discuss any issues of interest to them. Coffee and light refreshments will be provided.
