BookTrails, a local organization that offers reading and writing programs related to the outdoors, had announced the 2013 Reading on Ranches Camp schedule. All camps are held on area ranches and focus on a common book or theme using writing, stories and art. VNA reminding readers to be conscious of chemicals
As part of National Poison Prevention Week from March 17 to 23, the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association is reminding readers to call Poison Help at 1-800-222-1222 right away when accidents happen with chemicals, medicine or household items. Yampa Valley Youth Chorus is accepting registrations
The Yampa Valley Youth Chorus is accepting registrations for its session starting Monday. The group for children ages 7 to 12 meets from 4 to 5 p.m. Mondays in the music room at Soda Creek Elementary School to sing fun, easy songs and learn about classical choral singing. The cost of the seven-week session is $90 per singer and includes a public concert. No audition or experience is required. For more information, go to http://www.facebook.com/yampavalleyyouthchorus.
Snowmobile club honors 2 of its longtime members
The Routt Powder Riders snowmobile club recently honored the longtime service of two its members, George and Lois Kostiuk. At the club's February meeting, the Kostiuks were presented with Yamaha jackets embroidered with Routt Powder Riders' new logo. The jackets were provided with support of Jason Stanhope, of Steamboat Powersports. The Kostiuks have provided 28-plus years of service to the club as well as snowmobiling initiatives in the community.
With the exception of a brief period, George Kostiuk has been the club's vice president since its inception. He currently is the grooming chairman and is instrumental in keeping the club's grooming machine operational, according to a news release. The club grooms more than 100 miles of trails on Rabbit Ears Pass. Lois Kostiuk has served as the club's secretary and is currently its treasurer.
March Success Steps lunch is on March 28 at Rex's
The March Success Steps luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 28 at Rex's American Grill & Bar will cover the lending environment for small businesses, including challenges to securing a loan, U.S. Small Business Administration loan options and the process to apply for a business loan. Representatives from Alpine Bank and Colorado Lending Source will present. The cost to attend the program is $10 and includes lunch. Register by calling 970-870-4491.
