Aging Well offers Zumba class at 10 a.m. Fridays
Aging Well, a program of the Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association, offers Zumba for beginners from 10 to 11 a.m. Fridays from March 9 through April 6 at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. The class is designed for older adults and those who are new to Zumba. There is a requested donation of $5 per class or $25 for the series, which is held in partnership with Horizons Specialized Services and the Routt County Council on Aging. Call 970-871-7676.
First Impressions presents 5-week parenting series
First Impressions of Routt County presents a five-week parenting series with Kristen Race, Ph.D. The course is from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays from March 14 to April 11 at Strawberry Park Elementary School. The class will cover topics including strengthening your child's self-esteem, how stress is affecting your children, developing effective discipline strategies and increasing family engagement. Emergency loans available for losses caused by floods
The U.S. Department of Agriculture has announced that Farm Service Agency emergency loans are available to eligible producers for losses caused by flooding from May 18 to July 8, 2011. Producers must file an application by March 22. For more information, call Laurie Neilson at 970-242-9133, ext. 2.

Steamboat Dance Theatre presents annual concert
Steamboat Dance Theatre presents its 40th annual dance concert at 7 p.m. March 15 to 17 and at 2 p.m. March 17 in the Steamboat Springs High School auditorium. Tickets are $15 for adults, $12 for students and senior citizens and $20 for reserved seating and are available at All That Jazz.
Medical center hosts talk about colorectal cancer
As part of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month in March, Yampa Valley Medical Center presents "Get Screened — it could save your life" at 6 p.m. March 13 as part of its Taking Care of Me series. Colorectal cancer is the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the U.S. Dr. Mark Hermacinski and Dr. Mark McCaulley will talk about colorectal cancer and the importance of early detection. According to the American Cancer Society, early detection is critical in fighting the disease, and those older than 50 should be screened regularly. The free program will be in YVMC Conference Room 1. Free colorectal kits will be given to attendees. No registration is required.
Orchestra's 'Together in Concert' program Tuesday
Steamboat Symphony Orchestra's "Together in Concert" program is at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Library Hall at Bud Werner Memorial Library. The show features 30 youth and adult musicians under the direction of Ernest Richardson and music from Mozart, Rimsky-Korsakov, Seitz, Corelli and Boccherini. Council on Aging hosts St. Patrick's Day dinner, dance
The Routt County Council on Aging hosts a St. Patrick's Day dinner and dance for seniors from 5 to 8 p.m. March 17 at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. For a recommended $3 donation, seniors can enjoy corned beef and cabbage and dance tunes. Vans will be running from Hayden, South Routt and Steamboat. Call 970-879-0633 or sign up at one of the Routt County Council on Aging meal sites by March 12 to make a reservation.
VNA offers adult activity, care program at Haven
The Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association offers an adult activity and care program at The Haven Assisted Living Center in Hayden. The program provides a place for older adults to enjoy a fun and relaxing day outside the home. The program is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Tuesdays in March, as well as March 16 and 19. The cost is $60 per day. Activities include music, exercise, art, social events and health and wellness services.
A program for those with memory care needs is from noon to 4 p.m. March 23 and 30 and is $50 per day. For more information and to register, call Karen Burley at 970-875-1888.
