Steamboat briefs: Poochy Paddle is Sunday at Old Town Hot Springs

Steamboat Springs — Old Town Hot Springs hosts a Poochy Paddle from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday. Dogs and their owners are invited to the pool, where dogs can swim, jump, chase balls and even venture off the diving board. The lap pool will be closed immediately after the Poochy Paddle for a weeklong cleaning. The cost is $5 per dog in advance and $10 per dog on the day of the event. Bring a dog or cat food donation for the Steamboat Animal Shelter. Enter at the back gate. Call 970-879-1828 with questions.
Baby-sitting class offered for youths 11 and older
A baby-sitting class for youths 11 and older is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 10 in Bogue Hall, Room 117, on Colorado Mountain College's Alpine Campus. Students will learn about safety and play for infants and toddlers, how to handle emergency and usual situations, diapering, feeding and payment. Registration is required, and the cost is $39. Steamboat Art Museum seeks gift shop volunteers
The Steamboat Art Museum needs volunteers to help in its exhibit galleries and gift shop. Volunteers typically work two hours per week and may be asked to greet visitors, give informal tours, help with clerical work and conduct sales in the museum gift shop. Fall registration has begun for Pee-wee Adventures
Registration has begun for the city of Steamboat Springs' Pee-wee Adventures fall program. The licensed part-time preschool program is for potty-trained 3- to 5-year-olds and is offered from 9 to 11:30 a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. The cost is $15 a day. VNA offers birth control, screenings for women
Northwest Colorado Visiting Nurse Association's Women's Health Clinic is offering free IUDs, Nuvaring and Implanon. Other birth control, STD screenings and general women's health care also is offered free to low cost based on income. All income levels are welcome. Horizons seeks volunteers for mentor opportunities
Horizons Specialized Services is seeking volunteers to serve as mentors to individuals with developmental disabilities in Moffat and Routt counties. Volunteers spend at least three hours a month with Horizons clients. Activities can include hiking, biking, bowling, swimming, fishing, walks, etc. The group needs volunteers for swimming and boating programs.
