Steamboat briefs: Partners plans events for National Mentoring Month
January 14, 2013
Partners in Routt County, a local nonprofit organization that pairs adult mentors with area youths, is celebrating National Mentoring Month in January with a variety of events.
Thank Your Mentor Day is Thursday and is intended to be an occasion to thank or honor the people who encouraged and guided you while having a lasting, positive impact on your life.
On Saturday, Partners will honor its current adult-youth partnerships as well as bring together the youths in the community still waiting to be matched with an adult mentor for an afternoon of snow tubing at Saddleback Ranch. Members of the Steamboat Young Professionals Network also will participate.
Then, on Jan. 29, Partners will screen "Show Me the Way," a documentary that explores the impacts mentors can have on a young person's life. The movie begins at 6:30 p.m. in Library Hall at Bud Werner Memorial Library. A panel discussion will follow. Anyone interested in learning more about mentoring and Partners in Routt County is invited to attend.
