Steamboat briefs: Part of Lincoln Avenue will be closed Saturday for events

Lincoln Avenue will be closed between Fifth and 11th streets from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday during Merry Mainstreet. Events include:
■ All day Gingerbread House Tour (Overland Sheepskin Co., 612 Lincoln Ave.; Cellar Liquors, 730 Lincoln Ave.; White Hart Gallery, 843 Lincoln Ave.; and Steamboat Art Co., 903 Lincoln Ave.)
■ 5 to 8 p.m. Elf on the Shelf scavenger hunt (downtown storefronts)
■ 5:30 p.m. Santa's Light Parade (Sixth to 10th streets)
■ 6 to 7 p.m. Great Steamboat Caroling Contest (intersection corners between Sixth and Ninth streets)
■ 6 to 8 p.m. Visit with Santa (Ski Town Lifestyles Properties, 703 Lincoln Ave.)
■ 8 p.m. Santa Pub Crawl (8 p.m. at Sunpie's Bistro, 9 p.m. at Sweetwater Grill, 10 p.m. at Carl's Tavern, 10:30 p.m. costume contest. $10.)
Fire Rescue volunteers will give gift ideas for donations
Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue volunteers will be in front Walmart Saturday with gift ideas for the United Way Holiday Wishes Program. Those who are interested in donating a gift also can find a gift registry by going to http://www.communityholidaywishes.com and clicking on "Local Benefit."
Gifts should be dropped off at the Community Holiday Wishes Party from 4 to 7 p.m. Dec. 16 at Olympian Hall at Howelsen Hill Lodge. If your gift is wrapped, make sure to include a description of the item and who it is for. The community party is free and includes sleigh rides, tubing, cookies and hot chocolate, and visits with Santa.
Registration extended for adult coed sports leagues
Registration has been extended for the city of Steamboat Springs' winter adult coed sports leagues. Registration continues through Wednesday for the city's basketball and volleyball leagues as well as its new dodgeball league. Games start in early January.
