Drunken driving crackdown continues through weekend
Ninety-six law enforcement agencies and Colorado State Patrol troopers across the state are firing up plans for sobriety checkpoints and increased patrols during the Fourth of July holiday, according to a news release.
The crackdown runs through 3 a.m. Monday. The effort is part of the Colorado Department of Transportation's Heat is On campaign, which pairs heightened enforcement with public education.
In 2012, 14 Colorado residents were killed in the month of July because of alcohol-related automobile crashes. And during last year's Fourth of July heightened enforcement period, 632 Colorado residents were arrested for impaired driving, according to the release.

She also said the ski area is looking into making a donation to the Routt County Riders trail maintenance group.
