Logging operations to mitigate beetle-kill at Steamboat Ski Area will resume as early as Tuesday, according to a news release.

The work, which involves a helicopter, will encompass about 25 acres and will result in the closure of the Burgess Creek drainage between Pony Express chairlift in Pioneer Ridge and Four Points chairlift from the bottom of Bar-UE down to Storm Peak Express, according to the release. The closure will remain in effect through Oct. 30 or until the work is completed.

"It is imperative that the public understands the dangers associated with an operation of this scope and abide by all closures and signs and keep clear of the impacted areas," said Doug Allen, vice president of mountain operations for Steamboat Ski and Resort Corp.

Outside the closed area, trails will remain open as conditions permit.
