Steamboat briefs: Home Builders hosts Toys for Tots fundraiser Saturday

Steamboat Springs — The Steamboat Home Builders Association is hosting a Toys for Tots fundraiser at 6 p.m. Saturday at The Steamboat Grand. The Nacho Men will perform. The cost is $40 per person or $75 per couple and includes dinner, unlimited beverages and two beers. There also will be a cash bar and raffles. Holiday Wishes shopping set to begin this weekend
Do something good for a family in Routt County this holiday season by purchasing a gift to donate from their holiday wish list. Visit http://www.rexsholidaywishes.com for a gift registry, or shop at Walmart on Friday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Members of Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue will be handing out slips of paper with specific items needed for people to purchase. Library offers free training for electronic resources
Join a library reference assistant through Dec. 19 for a free, individual training or troubleshooting session to help check out audiobooks, eBooks, music, and videos from Bud Werner Memorial Library's electronic resources, Overdrive and NetLibrary. Dance studio accepting registrations for 2010-11
Elevation Dance is accepting registrations for the 2010-11 session. Classes are available for ages 3 to adult in ballet, hip-hop, jazz, tap, contemporary, belly dance, Irish, Texas three-step and Zumba. The studio's recital is May 21 at Steamboat Springs High School; the deadline to register for the recital is Jan. 31.
Horizons seeks volunteers to spend time as mentors
Horizons Specialized Services is seeking volunteers to serve as mentors to individuals with developmental disabilities. Volunteers spend at least three hours a month with Horizons clients. Activities can include hiking, biking, bowling, swimming, fishing, walks, etc. The group needs volunteers for the Steamboat Marathon, swimming and boating programs. Local groups reach out to returning service members
The Routt County Veterans Affairs, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4264 in Steamboat Springs and American Legion Post 44 in Steamboat would like to meet local sons and daughters returning from military service. The VFW Post is looking for female war veterans. The American Legion also is looking for new members.
